Odor and Taste Changes Can Occur in the Summer

Customers in Tennessee American Water service area may be experiencing taste and/or odor issues with their drinking water. Neither issue poses a health concern, and the situation is temporary. The issue is due to seasonal changes in the Tennessee River source water caused by hot, dry conditions and lack of rainfall. We are adjusting treatment at the plant to mitigate this. Please be assured that we are continuously monitoring your drinking water supply to ensure we continue to meet EPA and Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation water quality guidelines. The treatment adjustments made at the plant could take a few days to take effect and see a difference with these issues. The changes will help to decrease the aesthetic change in the drinking water We appreciate your patience as we work to correct this.
