Kentucky American Water Science Fair, Coordinated by Fayette County Public Schools:

Each February, Fayette County public, private and home-school students in grades four through 12 compete in the annual Kentucky American Water Science Fair coordinated by Fayette County Public Schools in Lexington. The Kentucky American Water Science Fair was established in 1985 to help celebrate the company’s centennial anniversary. Students participating in the event have either earned advancement to the district fair by receiving honors at their respective schools’ science fairs or otherwise earned recognition for their projects to advance to district competition.

Kentucky American Water Firefighting Support Grants provide financial assistance to uniformed professional and volunteer fire departments serving communities in the company’s designated service territories. Grants are awarded to cover the costs associated with purchasing personal protective gear, communications equipment, firefighting tools, water handling equipment, training and related activities/materials used to support community fire protection. Reimbursement for specific fire training classes, including the cost of training manuals and student workbooks, is eligible. The maximum grant amount is $500.

Tap in a Snap Water Bottle Refilling Station Program:

Our Tap in a Snap program is designed to help make safe and healthy hydration easily accessible in public spaces while also promoting environmental stewardship, since it helps reduce the number of beverage cans and plastic bottles that end up in landfills.

To be eligible to apply, organizations must receive their tap water service from Kentucky American Water. Individuals are not eligible for Tap in a Snap grants. Grants are provided as funds permit. Grant recipients are responsible for ordering and installing the water bottle refilling units.
