Pennsylvania American Water Issues Mandatory Conservation Notice for Customers in Connellsville and Uniontown Service Areas
PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Jan. 30, 2025) – Pennsylvania American Water issued a mandatory water conservation order for approximately 13,500 customers in its Connellsville and Uniontown water systems in Fayette County today. Customers are asked to temporarily limit their water use to essential purposes only, with a targeted reduction of 10-15% until further notice.
Pennsylvania American Water purchases water for these systems from the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County, which “is asking its customers to reduce water usage after a cold snap caused a period of high demand where customers were running their water to prevent frozen lines, and the system was experiencing an increased number of leaks.”
Pennsylvania American Water is notifying affected customers through its automated emergency notification system. The company will provide updates as needed and will notify customers when the conservation order is lifted. For more information, visit amwater.com/paaw and click on ‘Alerts.’
