Boil Water Order Lifted for Lincoln Customers

Lincoln, Ill. (Friday, March 8, 2024) – Effective immediately, Illinois American Water has lifted the systemwide boil water order for the City of Lincoln. Testing has confirmed water meets all state and federal quality standards.

The boil water was issued Tuesday after a temporary high turbidity issue.

“We appreciate the support and patience of our customers in Lincoln,” said Kyle Smith, Senior Manager of Operations, Western Division. “We apologize for the inconvenience.”

Illinois American Water, a subsidiary of American Water (NYSE: AWK), is the largest regulated water utility in the state, providing high-quality and reliable water and wastewater services to approximately 1.4 million people. American Water also operates a quality control and research laboratory in Belleville.
