Illinois American Water Celebrates New Facility in Streator
Streator, Ill. (April 7, 2021) – Illinois American Water’s Streator District celebrated the completion of a new facility with the Streator Chamber of Commerce and Illinois American Water employees. A ribbon cutting was held with the small group at the new facility located at 1301 West Main Street in Streator.
The new facility represents an investment of approximately $3.8 million in the Streator District. The new facility is approximately 12,000 sq. ft. and includes expanded equipment storage and a maintenance garage with five garage bays as well as dedicated operations and maintenance areas. The new facility also includes a training space to support employee safety.
According to Holly Wheeler, operations superintendent for the Streator District, “We are happy to be in our new facility and celebrating with our local Chamber. The investment will improve operational efficiencies, customer service and employee safety.”
She added, “Our team performs complex work daily. The new space allows our employees to receive safety training in a designated area. Also, the larger storage space helps us equip our team with necessary equipment and supplies.”
Vissering Construction from Streator completed the construction. SUMAC, INC., a minority-owned firm, was the architect for this project. For more information about Illinois American Water, visit www.illinoisamwater.com.
