New York American Water Announces $500,000 Water Main Replacement Project in Valley Stream

Valley Stream, NY (August 11, 2020) – New York American Water is investing $500,000 to install 900 feet of six-inch water main on North Corona Avenue in Valley Stream. The project, scheduled to begin August 12, also includes the replacement of six utility-owned service lines. This project will result in improved water pressure and water quality for customers in the area.

“New York American Water is dedicated to providing our customers with reliable, quality water service and that starts with replacing aging infrastructure,” said New York American Water Director of Engineering John Kilpatrick. “With this project, customers in the vicinity can expect an improvement in both water pressure and water quality as they will now be served by a six-inch ductile iron water main.”

This main installation project will take place along North Corona Avenue in Valley Stream from Decker Street to Thompson Street. Construction is expected to take approximately four weeks to complete. Final road restoration will be completed by Nassau County as part of their ongoing road improvement projects.

Work will take place between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Residents should note that sections of the street where construction is taking place may be closed to traffic during these working hours.

The company asks customers to recognize the essential work being done by its employees and contractors and reminds them to adhere to social distancing rules for everyone’s safety.
