Pennsylvania American Water’s Clarion Team Recognized for Outstanding Employee Safety and Water Quality Milestones

CLARION, Pa. (June 22, 2023) Pennsylvania American Water is recognizing its Clarion team for 18 years without a safety incident. The Clarion team was also recently recognized by the Partnership for Safe Water with a 15-year Director’s Award for achieving 15 years of continuously optimizing water treatment plant and distribution system operation and performance.

“We are very proud of our Clarion team and their commitment to safety,” said Senior Manager of Northwest Operations Jon Natale. “For more than 18 years, they have worked around the clock at a facility that utilizes heavy machinery, chemicals, and electrical equipment without a recordable incident.”

The Clarion team recently reached a remarkable milestone of logging 6,570 days (18 years) injury free – during which time, they have treated more than 9 billion gallons of drinking water. The Clarion Regional Water Treatment Plant treats and delivers water to more than 10,000 people in Clarion County.

Pennsylvania American Water employees complete various safety trainings yearly, including chemical handling, confined space, and work zone safety training. The company also heavily promotes employee participation in its safety near-miss program, which helps identify and correct possible hazards to prevent injuries.

The Clarion team also recently received a Partnership for Safe Water 15-year Directors Award, which recognizes water providers who voluntarily implement measures to optimize treatment plant performance and distribution system operation, resulting in the production and delivery of superior quality water. As part of meeting the Directors Award requirements, water treatment plants must meet specific criteria and provide water service that – in some cases – surpasses what is required by federal and state drinking water standards.

Natale added, “This acknowledgment underscores our Clarion team’s unwavering dedication to providing customers with clean, safe, and high-quality drinking water and a culture focused on continuous improvement.”
