Sonal Modi Named Finance Manager for Tennessee American Water

Chattanooga, Tenn. (October 15, 2021) – Tennessee American Water has announced that Sonal Modi, who has been with the company since 2011, has been promoted to finance manager for the state. In this position, Modi oversees the company’s budgeting process and financial reporting. Modi will continue to report to Brian Queen, chief financial officer of Southeastern States for American Water.

 

Modi first joined Tennessee American Water as a financial analyst and served in that capacity for three years before moving into the position of Business Performance Manager.  In that role, she worked closely with the operations side of the business. After two years, she returned to the financial analyst role, supporting the Budgeting and Internal Reporting Services function.  In this capacity, she supported multiple states on budgeting and internal reporting.  Most recently, she has served as an analyst for the American Water Southeast States finance team. 

Originally from Mumbai, India, Modi earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Mumbai and is a certified public accountant licensed by the Tennessee State Board of Accountancy. She has given her time to various local volunteer efforts, lending her expertise to activities such as the Urban League’s free income tax assistance program and serving as treasurer for Bridge Refugee Services.   

She and her husband Charlie reside in Chattanooga with their daughter Aarushi.
