West Virginia American Water Awards 14 Bottle Filling Stations to Organizations Across the State

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (Sept. 28, 2022) – West Virginia American Water announced today the recipients of its fourth annual Bottle Filling Station program. This year, the company will provide touchless filling stations for reusable water bottles to 14 organizations in West Virginia.

“By providing bottle filling stations to schools, community centers and public parks across the state, West Virginia American Water is showing its continued commitment to eliminating single use plastics that pollute our environment and drinking water sources,” said Robert Burton, president of West Virginia American Water. “Investing in sustainability initiatives like our bottle filling station program encourages West Virginians to carry reusable bottles, promotes proper hydration and provides cost savings and convenience.”

In 2019, West Virginia American Water was the first business or organization in the state to offer a program of this kind through its community investment and environmental stewardship efforts. Since its inception, West Virginia American Water’s program has provided 95 bottle filling stations to organizations across West Virginia. This year’s program will provide a bottle filling station to the following organizations across the state:

Cabell County

  • City of Huntington for Safety Town (Huntington)
  • St. Mary’s Medical Center for the Highland Church Office Building (Huntington)

Fayette County

  • City of Fayetteville for the Charlie McCoy Park (Fayetteville)

Jefferson County

  • Jefferson County Parks and Recreation for the Sam Michaels Park (Shenandoah Junction)
  • Wildwood Middle School (Shenandoah Junction)

Kanawha County

  • City of Charleston for the Haddad Riverfront Park (Charleston)
  • Elk Elementary Center (Charleston)
  • Kanawha County Commission for Coonskin Park (Charleston)
  • Kanawha County Commission for the Shawnee Sports Complex (Institute)
  • Kanawha County Commission for the Shawnee Sports Complex Welcome Center (Institute)
  • Ruthlawn Elementary School (South Charleston)
  • University of Charleston (Charleston)
  • YMCA of Kanawha Valley (Charleston)

Mercer County

  • Mercer County Schools (Princeton)
