At New Jersey American Water, we encourage, honor, and celebrate inclusion, diversity and equity of people, ideas, thoughts and experiences. It’s vital to our culture, makes us stronger as a company and allows us to better serve our customers across New Jersey.

To further promote and support inclusion and diversity in our communities, New Jersey American Water is launching its first annual Inclusion, Diversity & Equity Grant Program.

The program will provide financial assistance to organizations seeking to develop and implement programs, training or community-related projects that aim to promote and foster inclusion and diversity in the community. The maximum grant amount is $2,500.

To qualify for a grant, the organization, project or event must:

  • Be located within a New Jersey American Water's service area
  • Be a new, innovative community initiative or serve as significant expansion to an existing program
  • Promote inclusion, diversity and equity (ID&E) in the community the organization serves
  • Applicant must be classified as a 501(c)(3) public charity or K-12 public school, college or university. Individuals and and religious organizations are not eligible to receive grants. Only nonprofit organizations within New Jersey American Water’s service territory are eligible to receive funding.

DEADLINE TO APPLY: OCTOBER 13, 2023

The grant program is now closed and will reopen in the fall of 2024. Any submissions made prior to the 2024 opening of the grant program will not be included.

All grants will be funded either by the American Water Charitable Foundation upon the advice or recommendation of personnel from American Water and its state subsidiaries or directly by such American Water subsidiary. All applicants will be notified if their application is approved and the amount of funding.

Help make a positive impact in our communities and state. Apply today. Working together, we will continue to move the needle forward to promote ID&E throughout New Jersey.
