H2O HELP TO OTHERS PROGRAM

In 1991, Pennsylvania American Water launched the H2O Help to Others Program™, making it one of the earliest customer assistance programs voluntarily created by a water utility in the United States. Over the last 35 years, the program has grown and continues to be one of the most comprehensive utility assistance programs in the industry. Through the program today, we are proud to offer grants, bill discounts, debt forgiveness and water-saving devices and education to our income eligible customers.

HELP PAYING YOUR WATER BILL IS AVAILABLE

Through our partnership with Dollar Energy Fund, eligible customers can save hundreds of dollars each year, freeing up money for everyday household needs.

You may qualify for:

  • Up to $500 in grants
  • 22% – 82% off monthly water charges
  • 37% – 85% off monthly wastewater charges
  • $40/month forgiven from past-due balances


Help is available and applying is easier than you might think.

SEE IF YOU QUALIFY 

Finding out if you’re eligible is quick and easy.

Customers with household incomes at or below 250% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines (FPIG) may qualify.

Follow these simple steps:

  1. Go to our Dollar Energy Fund application page: myappconnect.com
  2. Check your income
    Use their Income Calculator to find your FPIG level.
    Include before-tax income for all adult household members (excluding minors).
  3. Confirm eligibility
    Use the chart below to see if your FPIG level falls within the program’s range.
  4. Apply for help
    If you qualify, you can apply right away.


You’ll need to re-apply periodically to continue receiving benefits.

Applying for help is simple, and you can choose the option that works best for you.

  • Prefer to speak with someone? Call 1-888-282-6816 for assistance.
  • A paper application is also available for submission by mail, fax or email. Download here and follow the submission instructions included on the application form.

What You’ll Need

You only need three pieces of information to apply:

  1. A copy of your bill
  2. Name and birthdate for all members of your household
  3. Proof of total gross monthly income for all adults in your household
